Autobiography: Professor Diana HweiAn Tsai

 Diana HweiAn Tsai is professor of strategy, entrepreneurship and growth, currently at Institute of Business and Management, National Chiao Tung University. She was Commissioner of the 7th and 8th sessions of the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission, Professor and Director at Institute of Economics of NSYSU, research associate at the Institute for Policy Analysis of University of Toronto, and assistant professor of Concordia University, visiting scholar at Stanford University, visiting research fellow at University of California at Santa Cruz. She also serves as Consultant of Economics and Technology group of National Policy Foundation, Chair of the Industrial Policy group of Taiwan Competitiveness Forum, and editorial board member of Fair Trade Quarterly. She was committee member of Economic Development Committee and Kaohsiung Urban Planning Committee of Kaohsiung City Government. While at the tenure of Commissioner of the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission, Dr. Tsai has represented Taiwan to attend the annual OECD Competition Committee and Global Forum, ICN Global Competitiveness Forum, EATOP East Asia Forum on Competition, and serve as speakers and panelists at various seminars and conferences.

 

 Her research focuses on industrial organization and regulation, digital economics and telecommunications, applied econometrics, and economics of competition policy. Current research includes M&A and competitive strategies, economic analysis of the competition policy, empirical studies in digital convergence, economics analysis on intellectual property right, etc. She has papers published in Journal of Productivity Analysis, Contemporary Economic Policy, Journal of Policy Modeling, Information Economics and Policy, Taiwan Economic Review, Taiwan Academic Journal, Management Review, City and Planning, Issues and Studies; and is author of Empirical Foundation of Incentive Regulation in Telecommunications, published by Management Study Research Center, National Sun Yat-Sen University, and Macroeconomic Environment as Implicit Industrial Policy: Its Industry and Enterprise Effects coauthored with Dr. J.R. Norsworthy published by Kluwer Academic Publishers.  And she was award receiver of National Science Council research awards, Mackay Research Award of 1994 in U.S. and 1998 in Taiwan, Australia Government competitive grant in 2008, Fulbright Scholar in 2009, the 14th NATIONAL INNOVATION AWARD (2017), Gold Medal of the 8th International Innovation and Invention Competition (2017), the 16th NATIONAL INNOVATION AWARD (2019), and Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (2019).
